Make Your Own Musical Camp
This summer we are pleased to once again offer our two-week intensive camp for ages 8+ aimed at focusing our students’ skills with in-depth professional caliber training in the fields of dance, singing, and acting.
Make Your Own Musical Camp will take place over two weeks: August 10-14, (week one), and August 17-21 (week 2).
In this unique summer camp, students will engage in every part of the creation of a musical play from start to finish. Starting from scratch participants will: put their idea to page with a script, compose lyrics and composition, help design and construct their set, stage and choreograph the show, and finally put it all together on stage.
Along with games, warm-up activities, and breaks for snack/lunch, students will have daily classes in voice, dance, and theatre by professionals in their respective fields, and will directly apply what they learn to the creation of a short musical showcase. Classes may include (but are not limited to):

Projection, enunciation, and voice work

Physical theatre, body language, and characterization

Improv and teamwork skills

Basics of stage and rehearsal etiquette

Playwriting basics (story structure and writing a play)

Composition/lyrics

No Experience Needed!
No past training in musical theatre is required but students should have a willingness to learn, take on responsibility as growing storytellers, and experiment with new concepts as a team.
This is a camp for students aged 8+. While there is no upper age limit, content will be directed towards pre-teens and young teenagers, and serves as an introduction to many aspects of musical theatre.
Students who are interested in camp but who do not want to be onstage in the final showcase are welcome to join camp as part of a design/tech team (stage management and helpers, bringing the show to life from backstage). We will do our best to accommodate all student’s interests but please note the majority of camp class time will focus on performance aspects of musical theatre – additional instruction in theatre tech is not guaranteed.
